If you run Linux you can't go wrong with IBM / Lenovo hardware.

She arrived. First thing on Monday morning. My absolutely glorious Lenovo Think Centre. Yum Yum. Had to wait a very frustrating 24 hours for some free time and then I got started. First up came Windows XP. I really resent paying money to MS to NOT enjoy their products. Is that what they call Capitalism? I also have full *multi media* capabilities. The rather soothing Japanese music eased the irritation. Not so the annoying BONG every time it booted. Which was frequently. Because in a proper OS there is a decent pause before the GUI loads just in case you need to do anything daft like err going to the BIOS so you can errr boot from the CD ROM. In the old days you had a great big notice, high up the screen, in a large font inviting you to press f5 or somesuch. Typically you had a few seconds at least. With XP you now get an invitation to press enter of all things, it is a size 9 font, at the bottom edge of your screen and unless you press enter in less than one second flamin Windows XP will boot again. Which it did in my office 4 times this morning - complete with two huge BONG sounds.

Finally - with reflexes a fighter pilot would be proud off - I managed to hit enter and reach the sanity of the BIOS. A quick change to boot first from the CD and off we went. I had downloaded my OS of choice the 64 bit SimplyMEPIS 7.0. All conveniently on one CD. Then came the great moment. The install routine asked if it could have the whole drive or did it need to share with any other OS. With great relish I picked the whole drive. 5 minutes later we were done. Fully functional. All hardware running. Absolutely stunning. Scratch one Windows OS. Hasta la Vista baby. We don't need you.
