The Kubrick Effect - Has it struck Habari?

Has the mysterious Kubrick effect hit the Habari development team already? Some folk say it has.

People familiar with my writing going back over several years will know that I harbour a deep and visceral hatred for the WordPress default theme - Kubrick. What I describe as The Kubrick Effect can be explained in these terms:

The Kubrick effect is a mechanism which splits otherwise united and cohesive blogging communities particularly in the field of software development. It is a process whereby otherwise rational individuals who generally are hard core php programmers - take leave of their senses and attach a pile of crap to the front end of their emerging application both in respect of themes and the admin panel. Typical symptoms which can be used to identify the effect in evidence, are the clandestine nature of the decision, the rejection of all post-event argument and a fair degree of flaming. This is frequently accompanied by cries of *where is your code*. The cause of it is frequently a fixation with graphics designers and all their works. Once these snakeoil sellers get loose it can be too late.

The effect therefore has two simaltaneous and permanent consequences. It degrades the end user experience. And it completely alienates all the people who might be able to fix it. This - as you can imagine - is very difficult to achieve. Matt Mullenweg managed it with no trouble but he is a genius. What is surprising is that Habari has now managed to recreate the same feat. It is impressive stuff. Now that I am outside the tent pissing in I am very much happier as you can imagine.

If you have the stomach and the patience to read all the nonsense here it is in How Habari rendered itself in two by adopting the Blueprint.css and in The Habari cabal up close and personal
