What is the biggest single gotcha on a WordPress com to WordPress org transfer (apart from the permalinks or and the tags)?. The images. Images in posts are not part of the download. How painful is that? So what do you do? Right click. Download. Fire up ftp. Upload etc. Times by 200 whatever. Then you need to make sure the urls match. In our industry there is an expression for this state of affairs. A complete mess. There must be a better way.
Fortunately thanks to the wonders of GNU Linux there is. It needs a bit of hackery. But as far as I can see it works. You have to be a bit careful with wget otherwise you end up with half the World Wide Web stored on your hard drive. I am just giving my script its final checks.
